Chardonnay is nowdays widely planted outside Burgundy and is not very difficult to make grow. It can be vinified in a number of styles, oaky buttery with exotic fruity flavors showing richer style, produced rather in the warmer regions than the fine Burgundian style. Burgundy’s Chardonnay unoaked or oak aged is simple, more mineral and light bodied than the Californian style. Fine floral well balanced Chardonnay from the Western Australia’s cooler area like in our case Margaret River, is one of many examples of approaching European style with its well defined fruit and acid. Each version expresses the land and the soils caracteristics of the winegrowing region but also the consumer preference.
